2017-2018 Rotation Schedule

 

Except where noted otherwise, rotations on each level are of equitable length and take place at UCSD Medical Center (which includes the Hillcrest Hospital and Jacobs Medical Center) or at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, and are a combination of in and outpatient experiences. Most rotations include a Primary Care (continuity) Clinic.

GYN/REI 10 weeks OR, inpatient GYN, primary care, ovulation induction, REI clinic, continuity clinic
Oncology 10 weeks Oncology clinic and inpatient care
Obstetrics (10 wks night float) 20 weeks Inpatient obstetrics and continuity clinic
PGY2 Maternal Fetal Medicine (UCSD) 10 weeks High risk inpatient service, L&D, diabetic and High Risk OB clinics
Gynecology 10 weeks OR, inpatient GYN, primary care, TAB & Complex Contraception clinics
Kaiser Oncology 10 weeks OR and inpatient service, continuity clinic
Maternal Fetal Medicine (Kaiser) 10 weeks High risk inpatient service, L&D
Night Float 10 weeks Sunday - Thursday
PGY3 Urogynecology 10 weeks OR, inpatient service, continuity clinic & Urogyn clinic
Kaiser Laparoscopy 10 weeks OR, inpatient service, continuity clinic and colposcopy clinic
Kaiser Urogynecology 10 weeks OR, inpatient service, continuity clinic and urogyn clinics
Outpatient GYN/ Research

Pediatric and adolescent gynecology, Planned parenthood, continuity clinic and gynecology clinic
Night Float 10 weeks Sunday - Thursday nights
Elective 5 weeks A domestic or international destination
PGY4 Obstetrics 10 weeks Runs L&D, includes high-risk OB clinic
Gynecology 10 weeks OR, inpatient service, continuity and pre-op clinics
Oncology 10 weeks OR, inpatient service and oncology clinic
Kaiser Oncology 10 weeks OR, inpatient service, and continuity clinic
Night Float 10 weeks Sunday - Thursday

 

Residents in obstetrics-gynecology are provided the opportunity to study in a variety of practice settings which include academic medicine and multi-specialty group practice. Varied patient care experience and academic training in these settings are beneficial in educating a well-rounded physician who is capable of choosing and performing well in a career in either of these environments.
