Dr. Charles Nager is a professor
of clinical reproductive Medicine (Obstetrics and Gynecology) at UCSD. During
his 16-year career as a urogynecologist, Dr. Nager has developed
competence in the full spectrum of abdominal and vaginal urinary
incontinence and pelvic prolapse operations. Dr. Nager performs
more than 100 major surgeries each year for incontinence or prolapse.
Dr. Nager became director of the
UCSD Urogynecology clinic after completing a preceptorship with Dr.
Donald Ostergard in 1998. He subsequently completed a one-year
fellowship with professor Stuart Stanton at St. George's Hospital in
London in 1997. He has made oral presentations at the last two
annual American Urogynocological Society meetings.
During his 16 years on the faculty, Dr. Nager has served two elected terms on the UCSD Board of Governors
(Directors), 1995-1999, and chaired the UCSD Patient Care
Committee (1999). He has been an active participant in the UCSD
Managed Care Program and has chaired their Utilization Review Committee
in 1991 and their Utilization Subcommittee from 1992-1994. He was the
Associate Director of the Residence Training Program from 1987-1994,
and director from 1995-2002. He was the 1992 campus-wide recipient of
the UCSD chancellor's Associate Award for Excellence in teaching and
has twice won the coveted Departmental teaching Award (1998, 1996).
Dr. Nager is co-director of the UCSD
Women's Pelvic Medicine Center. He is a Co-Investigator for the
NIH Urinary Incontinence Treatment Network and chairs the Urodynamic
Subcommittee.
