Assisted with an epidemiological study of HHV8 in HIV-infected patients with and without Kaposi’s Sarcoma. Project involved the isolation of peripheral blood mononuclear cells, DNA isolation, PCR amplification of HHV8 specific DNA sequences, Southern Blot analysis and DNA sequence analysis.

Led discussion groups on various sexual health topics for a group of at risk teenagers from the Mission District in San Francisco.

Counselor for a group of 10 junior high school students on this outdoor mountain adventure aimed at teaching inner city students about leadership skills, goal setting, and exposing them to the medical profession.
